Congratulations to Brice Bledsoe, Class of 2026, for being selected as this year’s Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award winner for DCLA! 🦅🇺🇸
Brice stands out as a student leader who consistently demonstrates honesty, loyalty, and responsibility. He leads by example, inspires his classmates, and gives back to both school and community. His respect for others, strong character, and willingness to step up make him a positive role model at DCLA.
As part of this honor, Brice will also have the opportunity to participate in the essay scholarship portion of the DAR Good Citizen program. The Enid DAR Chapter is proud to sponsor this program in our area and recognize outstanding students like Brice.
We are so proud of you, Brice! Keep soaring high! 🎉

Where Are They Now? — Karen Golay Messall, Class of 2013
Karen Golay Messall, DCLA Class of 2013, has followed a path rooted in service, resilience, and strong community ties. She earned her degree in Community Health Education from OSU in 2017 and is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at OU, with plans to become a trauma-based therapist.
Karen’s work history includes catering during college (shoutout to Meditations Catering in Stillwater!), as well as roles in inpatient psychiatric care and child welfare. These days, she’s all-in on family and farm life. She and her husband manage 2,500 acres of wheat, 200 head of mama cows, and run an oilfield contract business—handling pumping, mowing, and spraying leases.
Karen married her college sweetheart in 2018, and they’ve made their home in Drummond with their three sons—two who keep them busy and one who watches over them. She’s passionate about community, good neighbors, and the small-town values she was raised with.

🎓 Attention High School Seniors & College Students! 🎓
The 2026–2027 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now OPEN! 💻✨
Completing your FAFSA is the key to unlocking financial aid, scholarships, and work-study opportunities for college.
💡 Oklahoma Reminder: Completing the FAFSA is now a graduation requirement for high school seniors. If you do not plan to complete the FAFSA, an opt-out form is available — but this should be a last resort.
📍 Get started here: https://studentaid.gov/resources/prepare-for-college/parents
Even if you think you may not qualify for aid, many scholarships and colleges still require a FAFSA on file, so don’t wait — apply today!

Several of our 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students took advantage of the opportunity to attend an ACT workshop at Northern Oklahoma College on Tuesday. They learned valuable test-taking strategies and gained a deeper understanding of how the ACT is structured and scored.
Students can continue preparing at home by registering for a free account at
www.myact.org, where they’ll find practice tests and the ACT Question of the Day. Mrs. Bledsoe also has several ACT prep books available for checkout in the counselor’s office.

We took a full suburban to the Kellyville Invitational FFA Greenhand contest last night! Our 8th grade team creed did a great job at their first contest! Ruthie and Alexi competed in the greenhand quiz contest, Ruthie was top 10 and got to do the verbal knockout rounds, Alexi barely missed being top 10! It was a great night!!

Mr. Nelson’s elementary science class was busy exploring physics last week! Students studied kinetic versus potential energy, practiced calculating speed (distance ÷ time), and continued to reinforce the steps of the scientific process. Elementary Physics is fun at DCLA! 🚀🔬⚡

See You at the Pole was held Wednesday morning as students gathered at the flagpole for a time of prayer and fellowship before school. This nationwide event is a student-led movement where young people come together to pray for their schools, friends, families, churches, and communities. Donuts, coffee, milk, and juice were generously sponsored by Robert Waggner, youth director at First Christian Church of Lamont. Thank you for supporting our students!

🐴🤠 Last week, Mrs. Hamm’s 1st grade class celebrated Cowboy Week! Doug Fitch and our own Piper Hill brought their horses to the elementary to teach the first graders all about horses, equipment, and what you’d need on a cattle drive—like chaps and bedrolls.
📸 Big thanks to Mr. Webster’s yearbook class for coming over to capture the fun!

Tonight our officer team had the privilege of serving at the Grant County Farm Bureau Annual Dinner. Members led the pledges, gave the invocation and served the meal. Piper and Bristol also got to talk about opportunities they have had at Farm Bureau sponsored events. We appreciate Farm Bureau for inviting us to be part of their evening and for pouring into our students and the FFA program!
