Pack tonight so tomorrow is stress-free.
The ACT will be at our school in the Event Center, and testing begins at 8:25 AM. Plan to arrive early and be ready.
Bring your calculator (and charger if needed) and wear comfortable layers.
Go to bed early — sleep helps more than last-minute cramming.
Be on time. Be prepared. Be confident. 🦅✨

Math shortcut: plug in answer choices.
If the question has variables and answer choices are numbers, try the middle option and see if it works. Fast and effective.

This is it! Our Scholastic Book Fair is coming March 23-26. Be sure your child doesn’t suffer Book Fair FOMO - get them prepared to shop at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/deercreeklamontelemschool #ScholasticBookFairs

Math strategy: Collect easy points first.
If a problem looks long, it probably is. Don’t burn time early. Move on and come back if you have time.

English quick checks that score points fast:
Subject-verb agreement, commas after introductory phrases, apostrophes, and sentence boundaries (run-ons and fragments).
If you can “hear” the error, trust that instinct.

Hard question rule: don’t panic.
The ACT is designed so that everyone misses a few. Your job is to miss fewer than the next person. Stay calm and keep moving.

Know the pacing.
English: about 42 seconds per question.
Math and Reading: about 1 minute per question.
Don’t get stuck. If you’re bogged down, skip, mark it, and come back.

The DCLA Elementary Book Fair is coming soon!
🗓 March 23-26
Get ready for a week filled with exciting stories, new adventures, and books your kids won’t want to put down. This is always one of our favorite spring events, and we can’t wait to see our young readers exploring the shelves and finding their next favorite book.
More details coming soon on shopping times and family opportunities. Start checking those couch cushions for book money 💙🦅

English strategy: if it’s wordy, it’s probably wrong.
The ACT loves clear and concise writing. Read the whole sentence, then choose the simplest option that is still correct.

Wear comfortable clothes on the test day.
You’ll be sitting for several hours. Choose layers in case the room is too warm or too cold. Avoid brand-new shoes or anything distracting.
The goal is to focus on the test—not your outfit.
Comfort = focus. Focus = points. 🦅✨

You can upload your pictures directly at [https://photos.jostens.com/] or simply scan the QR code provided by the school.
This is a great way to help make sure our yearbook includes everyone and all the amazing events happening at DCLA throughout the year. If you take photos at games, activities, field trips, or special events, we would love for you to share them! 🦅📚
Help us make this year’s yearbook the best one yet!

Interested in engineering, renewable energy, or building things that actually work? 🌬️⚡
DCLA KidWind is getting started for 4th-12th grades, and this is your chance to be part of it.
Our first KidWind meeting will be Thursday, March 12, from 3:45–5:00 PM in the DCLA High School Event Center. Students who want to participate in KidWind this year must attend this meeting. This will be the only opportunity to join the team.
KidWind is a hands-on program where students design, build, and test wind turbines while learning about renewable energy, engineering, and problem-solving. It is a great opportunity for students who enjoy science, technology, and teamwork.
Serious inquiries only. 🌎🦅

DCLA will be on Spring Break from March 13 through March 22.
Students will return to school on Monday, March 23. We hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing break with family and friends. See you back at school, ready to finish the year strong! 🦅📚
