🎓 NOC Visits DCLA Juniors and Seniors

📸 Picture Day was a success!
The senior boys came prepared for panel pictures with suit jackets, ties, and…shorts. Because apparently senior style means “professional from the waist up.” 😂
Thankfully, Mr. Webster was on hand for emergency tie duty, helping make sure everyone looked the part before stepping in front of the camera.
The official pictures may be polished, but these behind-the-scenes moments are definitely the ones we’ll remember. ❤️💙

🎓 Oklahoma’s Promise Applications Are Open!
Oklahoma’s Promise can help eligible students earn a college tuition scholarship. Oklahoma students in grades 8–12 may apply if their families meet the program’s income requirements.
Income limits:
• $60,000 for families with 1–2 dependent children
• $70,000 for families with 3–4 dependent children
• $80,000 for families with 5 or more dependent children
Special provisions may also be available for children of longtime Oklahoma public-school teachers, certain adopted students, students with court-appointed guardians, and some families receiving taxable Social Security benefits.
The deadline for students in the Class of 2027 is December 31, 2026. Students in grades 8–11 are encouraged to apply by June 30.

Every grade-level group at DCLA met our 95% attendance goal for August, giving us a schoolwide attendance rate of 97.09%!
Our 9th-grade class earned the title of August Attendance Champions with an outstanding 98.24% attendance rate. They celebrated their win with Ring Pops!

Deer Creek-Lamont Picture Day is coming up this Friday! Students will have their school pictures taken during the school day, and senior panel pictures will also be taken.
Families may order photo packages using the order envelope or prepay online at TomJacksonPhoto.com. Several package options are available, including a digital file option with a copyright release.

🗺️ Oklahoma History is getting hands-on!
Students are creating salt dough maps of Oklahoma to help them better understand our state’s geography. Once the maps are completely dry, they’ll paint them to show the different regions of Oklahoma.
It’s a fun way to turn geography into something students can build, see, and remember! ❤️💙

Our juniors and seniors had the opportunity to visit with a Northwestern Oklahoma State University recruiter today and learn more about college life, programs, scholarships, and opportunities available at NWOSU!
Seniors, here’s an extra reason to check out Ranger Preview! 👀 Seniors who attend Ranger Preview on October 31 and then attend NWOSU next fall can receive a $600 scholarship! 💰

Water has been restored!!!
🚨 7TH–12TH GRADE WATER OUTAGE UPDATE 🚨
A water line has broken in Lamont, leaving the DCLA JH/HS campus without water. The City of Lamont has informed us that the best-case repair time is approximately one hour.
We have bottled water available for students. If water service has not been restored by 1:30 p.m., only students in grades 7–12 will be released early because restroom facilities cannot be used.
Elementary students will remain at school and follow their normal schedule.
Parents and guardians of students in grades 7–12, please begin making arrangements in case an early release is necessary. We will provide another update at 1:30 p.m. or as soon as water service is restored.

A squirrel got into the high-line breaker and knocked out power to the school. Apparently, it had other plans for our Monday!
Thanks to the quick work of OG&E and Stacy Electric, the electrical issue has been resolved, and DCLA will be back in session tomorrow, Tuesday, August 25, on our regular schedule.
Enjoy the rest of your unexpected day off, Eagles. We’ll see everyone tomorrow—bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and hopefully leaving the electrical work to the professionals! 🦅❤️🤍💙
