--What to Expect When You Call 988--
Reaching out for help during a mental health crisis is an act of courage, even when doing so feels challenging. Itâs normal to feel apprehensive or have questions about the process, especially since there are many misconceptions about what happens when you call 988âincluding the misconception that police or emergency services will automatically be dispatched to your location if you call.
Rest assuredâevery call to 988 is met with compassionate care and support without judgment. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 to provide free, confidential support for anyone experiencing suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, substance abuse issues, sexual assault trauma, or any other mental health emergency. Whether you or a loved one is going through a mental health crisis, is struggling with addiction, or is a victim of sexual violence, dialing or texting 988 is always an option.

Where Are They Now? â Brian Bachman, Class of 2003
Brian Bachman, a 2003 graduate of DCLA, has built a life rooted in entrepreneurship and community impact. He manages rental properties and co-owns Oklahoma Swim Academy, turning vision into opportunity through business and investing.
Reflecting on his roots, Brian says:
âDCLA was the village that raised me. When my dad worked two jobs and my mom got sick, neighbors stepped in to care for my youngest brother Barry. When I was in elementary and played basketball on dirt, the community came together and poured concrete for a court. That kind of sacrifice and teamwork is what small towns are all about.â
Brian lives by a personal philosophy of growth:
Hope â believing tomorrow will be better than today
Vision â having a plan
Action â executing that plan
He believes that with those ingredients, the Deer Creek-Lamont community can continue to survive and thriveâtogether.
